‘Pretty Little Liars’ series finale: Vanessa Ray will return as Charlotte
Today is turning out to be quite a huge one for Vanessa Ray. On the upcoming episode of “Blue Bloods” airing in a matter of hours, we’re going to finally see more movement on the Jamie / Eddie relationship than we’ve seen in a rather-long time. Meanwhile, we’re also going to have a chance to see her return to “Pretty Little Liars” for the series finale, where she’ll play the character of Charlotte DiLaurentis a.k.a. CeCe Drake one last time.
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, Ray makes it clear why this appearance is important, and what you can expect to see:
“There’s a lot of unanswered questions about CeCe, so I think you’re definitely going to get some answers … We don’t know how she died and that’s been a big topic of discussion for all of season 7, so I think you’ll get an answer to that.”
Our biggest hope through this finale is mostly that we have an answer that’s satisfying, and we start to understand more of what Charlotte’s lasting legacy was. While we did see her do a lot of terrible things to the Liars throughout the course of the series, at the same time our perception was always that she was a flawed villain, one who was the victim of neglect and such emotional abuse that she didn’t know how to function. She only thought in terms of revenge, and never quite knew or understood a better way to be.
Seeing one final dose of Charlotte should offer up closure, and we know that at least one other recurring character will be turning up in Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto). This is a series that may only have ten episodes left, but they’re looking to fill them up with as much content as possible.
