‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’: Sara Paulson’s ‘Asylum’ character Lana Winters to return

While “American Horror Story: Roanoke” started out as one of the most-mysterious seasons of the show to date, executive producer Ryan Murphy seems a little more willing these days to lift the veil on some of what’s coming in terms of the story. For the latest example of that, you just have to look at his Twitter post below!

The idea of Lana Winters from “American Horror Story: Asylum,” the second season of the show, returning is certainly a crazy one for many different reasons. For one, she would be rather old in the present, given that it is a few years following the end of the second season where she killed Dylan McDermott’s character. Also, she technically has another character still to play on this season who hasn’t been killed off just yet.

Still, we do love the fact that Paulson continues to get so much great stuff to do, and this is effectively the third character she’s played on this season. Just remember that at first, she was playing Shelby on “My Roanoke Nightmare” before her character got to showcase her true personality on “Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell.”

Murphy’s been especially kind as of late when it comes to sharing crossover details. Yesterday at EW PopFest, the producer revealed that there is an upcoming season being worked on that will serve as a crossover between “Murder House,” the first season of the show, and then also “Coven.” All of this sounds ambitious, but we presume the one challenge here is that if you make it so that having prior knowledge of the franchise is important, there’s a good chance that you start to lose a little bit of your viewership along the way.
