‘The Good Wife’ spin-off: Two more names added
While “The Good Wife” spin-off may not even have an official title just yet, we’re getting more and more of a sense now as to some of the names who are going to be taking part — and they are pretty impressive.
According to a report from Deadline, “Smash” alum Bernadette Peters and Paul Guilfoyle of “CSI” fame have both been brought on board this new project, and will be playing in the process the roles of Lenore and Henry. They are the parents to Maia (Rose Leslie), the goddaughter of Diane (Christine Baranski) who will have an important role in the show.
In the case of Lenore (whose name reminds us firmly of Edgar Allan Poe), we’re looking at someone who, despite a working-class history, is incredibly astute when it comes to numbers and streets ahead of almost anyone and everyone else. Meanwhile, Henry is a financial adviser who has used some of Lenore’s skills to build an empire. The pair are extremely well-regarded in Chicago, which makes it the connections between themselves and Diane all the more interesting.
This spin-off is being showrun by “The Good Wife” creators Robert and Michelle King, and is currently set to air at some point in the new year. We certainly think that they’ve been able to assemble an excellent cast given just how risky a venture this is. New episodes are being created for the CBS All Access streaming service; the pilot will air on the network proper, but it could be a hard sell to convince viewers to spend almost $6 a month to watch one show along with repeats of other programs that are already on the network. For most of the year, the selling point of “All Access” is the “Big Brother” live feeds, which they have extended with “Over the Top” this fall.
