TV Quick Hits: ‘The Mick’ gets NFL lead-in; ‘Mad Men’ creator’s new gig; Megyn Kelly to guest-host ‘Live! with Kelly’
There are few good lead-ins out there quite like having an NFL show on before you, and Fox knows this. After all, that’s why they are opting to give Kaitlin Olson’s upcoming Fox comedy “The Mick” prime real estate following the January 1 broadcast.
Will this guarantee that the show is a smash hit? We’re not willing to say that, given that the network did this earlier in the year with “Son of Zorn,” and we don’t quite think there are a chorus of people out there proclaiming now that this animated comedy is the greatest thing since sliced bread. On the contrary, we think that the majority of people out there don’t see it having a robust future. People have to like your show enough to keep watching.
For those who did not hear, Olson’s participation in this show, at least for now, has no bearing on her future with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

“Mad Men” creator lands new gig – We’ve been waiting for some time to see what the future could hold for one Matthew Weiner following his time with “Mad Men,” and we’re pleased to now have a reasonably good answer to this very thing.
Weiner is reportedly set to join forces with Amazon on an upcoming eight-episode anthology series, though unfortunately, there is not much else known about it right now. What doesn’t surprise us is that there were apparently multiple suitors hoping to get this show, which is further evidence that at this point in his career, Weiner is incredibly in-demand.
Megyn Kelly guest-hosting “Live! with Kelly” – Following a heated conflict with Newt Gingrich on her Fox News show, we’ve now learned that Kelly will be appearing on the upcoming November 9 edition of the morning show. As for how she’s going to sleep with the election the night before, that’s a reasonably good question.
