Ratings: ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ remake does okay; ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ wins; ‘The Good Place’ plummets

Going into Thursday night’s TV lineup, we know one of the questions that was out there for many people was what sort of numbers the remake of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” would be able to pull in for Fox. After all, there was a lot of potential with it in theory, but the thing to remember here is that the original was a cult classic, and didn’t necessarily find success in the early going by having everyone watch it all at one time.

Also, putting a remake of this project on network TV somewhat inhibited just how far anyone could go in terms of content.

The movie last night drew in total a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which certainly is not terrible; however, at the same exact time this is far from the ratings monster that some hoped that it would be. “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.1) ended up defeating it in the 8:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot. The one plus here for Fox is that the remake basically more than doubled what Fox has been getting in this spot lately with “Rosewood” and “Pitch.”

Other good news – Hey, “How to Get Away with Murder” improved to a 1.2! Meanwhile, “The Blacklist” (1.1) and “Legends of Tomorrow” (0.6) were largely steady versus their preliminary numbers last week.

The bad news – It wasn’t a great night for NBC comedies, given that “Superstore” (1.0) and “The Good Place” (0.9) seemed to both suffer significantly from the level of content that was out there for other people to see. Meanwhile, it was also a particularly bad night for “Supernatural,” which fell from an impressive premiere rating down all of the way to a 0.6.

The biggest surprise of the night to us was seeing a woeful NFL game score just a 3.0 rating.
