‘This Is Us’ episode 5 preview: Could William die? See Jack, Rebecca before kids

Given just how much drama we tend to see on a show like “This Is Us,” we do like it that the show finds the time to give you a few lighter moments as well. This seems to be at least one focus of the next new episode entitled “The Game Plan,” at least based on some of the information that we’ve got for you today.

Based on the synopsis below, it feels like show creator Dan Fogelman’s love for sports is coming into play yet again. If you remember for a minute that Fogelman is the creator of “Pitch” in addition to “This Is Us” this season, it all makes even more sense.

Synopsis – “Rebecca and Jack get into an argument about starting a family. The family backstory behind the long line of love for the Pittsburgh Steelers is revealed. After accepting his part in the play, Kevin realizes his script is relevant to his own life. Randall and Beth encounter an unexpected turn of events.”

Judging from when this Rebecca / Jack argument could take place, we could get an opportunity within this story to see another chapter in this family’s life play out. For us, that feels like a particularly exciting proposition given that there are a wide array of different things that do need to be touched on before the first season comes to a close. We’ve only got 18 episodes in this first season, so Fogelman and company need to take advantage of all of the time they’ve got.

Promo – Whether it be arrivals, departures, or the Steelers, this preview really hints at it all. You’re also going to get, as referenced, a chance to see Jack and Rebecca before the children arrived in their world.
