‘The Good Wife’ spin-off casts ‘Chicago Code’ alum as Diane adversary
We’ve seen an impressive field of actors sign up for the upcoming “Good Wife” spin-off on CBS All Access, whether it be original series stars Sarah Steele, Christine Baranski, and Cush Jumbo or “Game of Thrones” alum Rose Leslie, who was confirmed as a member of the cast earlier this week.
Today, we got some some further news, and it involves someone who should know the city of Chicago (or at least the TV version) rather well. Delroy Lindo, best known for the short-lived “The Chicago Code,” is set to appear as a series regular in the role of Robert Boseman, a smart, powerful attorney who starts to poach away people close to Diane Lockhart when she falls into some financial trouble. His actions could be a catalyst for some of what she does moving further into the first season. For us, we’re just glad to see someone of his caliber as a part of the fabric of this show.
In a statement, executive producers Robert and Michelle King had the following to say about getting Lindo on board:
“[Boseman] dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client. He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearean facility with language, and Delroy Lindo was really the only actor who came to mind.”
The spin-off is going to premiere early next year, and as we’ve said many times over now, the biggest challenge for this series is merely going to be one of trying to figure out how in the world to convince people to tune in via the subscription-only streaming service. Even if they broadcast the premiere on CBS proper, they still need to find a way to keep people hooked enough to keep watching.
