‘The Good Wife’ spin-off hires ‘Game of Thrones’ alum Rose Leslie

Logo -As if there were not many reasons before to check out the upcoming spin-off for “The Good Wife” on CBS All Access, the streaming service has now added another: The opportunity to see Rose Leslie back on television.

The network confirmed on Wednesday that Leslie, who is best known for playing Ygritte on “Game of Thrones,” will join in the series-regular role of Maia. She is a young woman who, upon passing the Bar, begins work with Diane … who just so happens to also be her godmother. Clearly, there is an established personal connection here to go along with the exciting professional one. In a statement, here is what creators / showrunners Robert and Michelle King had to say:

“We’re thrilled to have Rose on board. We needed a young actress who could hold her own with Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo, and Rose is perfect. She’s real, she’s strong, and she can play comedy. If we designed an actress from the ground up, we couldn’t have done better.”

This spin-off will be online early next year, and joining Jumbo and Baranski will also be Sarah Steele, who played the role of Eli Gold’s daughter on the original. This all sounds exciting, but what remains to be seen is precisely how many people will be watching CBS All Access in order to check all of this out. As of right now, the biggest audience for it seems to be those who watch “Big Brother” live feeds, but we do think it has more value if you don’t have a traditional cable package, especially now that you can watch it on your PS4 (we bring this up mostly because we’re starting to do that).
