‘Chicago Fire’ season 5 spoilers: Meet Gabby and Antonio Dawson’s parents!

The Dawson family is at this point firmly ingrained in the fabric of NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” so it only seems right at this point in the run that we start to meet more of them!

Sources confirm that Daniel Zacapa (who recently appeared on “Agents of SHIELD” and also did several episodes of the short-lived “The River”) will be appearing on the show as Gabby and Antonio Dawson’s father, whereas Fulvia Vergel (“Hold the Door,” not actually a Hodor reference this time around) is going to be playing their mother. The parents are going to be in Chicago in order to celebrate an anniversary, and of course in true show fashion nothing is going to go according to plan and there will be a flurry of problems that unfold. If you suspected anything else to take place here, we’ll question what sort of show you’re even watching!

This casting news is coming out mere days before “Chicago Fire” is (finally!) returning to NBC with new episodes, and also days following the big announcement that Jon Seda will be bringing his talents as Antonio to “Chicago Justice,” which is where he will be a regular rather than “Chicago PD.” This is the third edition of the franchise in which this character has played a significant role. As for Gabby, we imagine much of the early portion of this season will be about trying to stabilize things between her, Casey, and baby Louie as more of a family unit. Fingers crossed it works out well for them.
