‘Chicago Fire’ season 5 spoilers: The story ahead in ‘Scorched Earth’

When it comes to “Chicago Fire,” one of the bigger surprises out there may just be that “Scorched Earth” has not been used as an episode title before now. When you start to think about all of the potential names that you could say to tie back to this show, we’re pretty darn sure that there isn’t one more perfect than this.

Hopefully, the NBC show has saved it for good reason! You’ll get a chance to see this particular story play out on Tuesday, October 25, and the synopsis below offers up a little bit of insight into what you can expect to see:

“Casey (Jesse Spencer) enlists Susan Weller (guest Star Lauren Stamile) to help with an urgent personal matter. Severide (Taylor Kinney) receives an offer to travel luxuriously with rich party guy Travis Brenner (guest star Scott Elrod) and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) uses all her resources to help a sick street kid after saving him during a tunnel fire. Meanwhile, Otis (Yuri Sardarov) and Herrmann (David Eigenberg) discuss their concerns over Molly’s lack of customers.”

Given how many various members of the “Chicago” franchise visit Molly’s on the regular, we’re a little bit shocked that they are having any problems filling seats at all. If anyone should be feeling in pretty good shape at this point, shouldn’t it be them? (Okay, we’re kidding — somewhat.)

The appearance of Elrod, notable for a recent stint on “Grey’s Anatomy,” should mostly be interesting since he’s the wealthy Instagram-famous celebrity who we haven’t see on the show before. He should bring a different sort of vibe to the series that we haven’t seen before.
