‘CBS Sunday Morning’: Jane Pauley succeeding Charles Osgood

CBS -

CBS Sunday Morning” is not a program that has experienced a wide degree of change over the course of time. After all, it’s a show that has had Charles Osgood at the helm for more than 20 years, and there has not exactly been a need for a lot of new blood on the program since he set the bar high.

However, his recent retirement prompted a change, which is why we are now glad to report that Jane Pauley will be stepping in to take his place and delivering solid interviews and strong content. Here is what she had to say in a statement:

“Charles Osgood set the standard for CBS Sunday Morning, and it’s a great honor to be given the chance to further our show’s legacy of excellence … I look forward to bringing loyal viewers the kind of engaging, original reporting that has made the broadcast so irresistible for so long.”

Pauley is coming aboard the series at a critical time, given that there are weeks to go before the Presidential election and therefore content will likely be focused almost entirely around it. We’re gearing up for a huge debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on Monday night, and many early expectations for this event are that it could be one of the most highly-rated debates in history. We’re excited to see how things unfold with this program moving forward, especially as Sunday-morning programs face a tricky sea change with more and more viewers starting to turn to other methods when it comes to getting their morning the news.

Even aside from this program, Pauley has also appeared on a scripted CBS series in “Madam Secretary” as herself.
