‘Shark Tank’ review: ReThink, Fizzics, ISlide, and Spoonful of Comfort
“Shark Tank” fans, the premiere is finally here! For the first time, all six Sharks are taking part in a single episode of television, and we’ve got a lot to dive into tonight in terms of products. There’s an innovation when it comes to beer drinking, a way to send comfort food to those you love from the other side of the country, customizable slip-on shoes, and then also software that can prevent hateful comments. Ultimately, we’ll see as the show goes on if anyone is willing to bite on a concept.

Fizzics – This is a change to the way people can drink beer. While some people are probably fine with hand-pouring their favorite lager or just drinking out of a can on game day, we see the value in doing something to improve the experience. According to the Sharks, what they have done is come up with something that really works! They were really impressive through this in that they had most of the answers, realized what their challenges were, and got two Sharks on board in Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner who understood their needs, and knew how to help them become more than they are at present.
Spoonful of Comfort – If you cannot be there for someone in their time of need, this is another way to help. We do think that Barbara Corcoran is out of her mind for saying to take it out back and shoot it. We do think that it’s a nice idea, and it’s something that could really work. The problem we run into here is the price and also the timing of it. We could see this working much better if the market size was reduced to individual cities, and a service was set up where you can allow for same-day delivery. That way, consumers get the food precisely when they actually could use the comfort versus a day or two down the road. Still, we dig the idea — it just didn’t work out in the Tank.
ISlide – Let’s talk slip-on shoes — in a very different way. These can be customized with a wide array of different designs, and it’s a pretty cool concept. We also feel like they’re fairly affordable for what you’re getting. The problem seems to be that their valuation far exceeds the revenue and profits that are actually being brought in. Not even Antonio Brown turning up could save this deal. Robert Herjavec made a more-than-fair offer based on the information that is out there, but it still wasn’t enough to bite. We wouldn’t have even made that offer! Maybe the company will figure it out on their own; they’re going to have to now.
ReThink – Can this product really work to stop cyber-bullying? The reviews in the Tank were positive, but the question that was pondered aloud was pretty clear: Was this really a business, or just a way to serve a worthy cause? The T-Mobile package was clearly the way to go, and she passed on that. If she can get that back with a carrier, that to us is clearly the right way to go since that’s money in the bank on a mass-market level. She, like the Fizzics guys, is underway now with the help of Mark and Lori. At least this was a nice, uplifting way to kick off the season.
