‘Empire’ season 3, episode 2 preview: Can Jamal get back on track?

Tonight, the premiere of “Empire” is bringing you all sorts of craziness, whether it be a stunning character death or some musical struggles with some other characters. This is an up-and-down series, and there are going to be a mixture of triumphs and failures that you continue to see moving forward. It’s really an age-old tradition with this show: Some characters will take a step forward, but then some others may slide backwards. For Andre, we clearly think that the latter is going to happen.

The title for the next new episode is “Sin That Amends,” and per the synopsis below, it is Jamal who could be moving both forward and backward based on his attempt to get his performing career back together:

“In an attempt to cope with life after being shot, Jamal teams up with businessman Angelo Dubois (guest star Taye Diggs), to talk about gun violence and host a summit for awareness. When he tries to perform again, things don’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Lucious attempts to win over Cookie, Hakeem starts to record new songs with Shine, and Andre runs into some trouble with the police.”

There’s a lot going on here as always, but isn’t that exciting? We have a feeling that this is going to be an exciting season, and for the most part, we’re glad that the focus seems to be on some of the family first and foremost other than a ton of guest stars. Sure, we do have Diggs, but he’s as generous of a supporting player as you’re going to find.
