‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 finale spoilers: Stage 2 … enter stage left?

“Mr. Robot” did its part to set up the season 2 finale, and it did so in a few shocking ways. Angela was interrogated, had an encounter with Whiterose, and in general had one of the odder experiences of her life. Meanwhile, Elliot learned the truth that seemed in many ways inevitable: Tyrell was still alive. We knew he was likely going to turn up eventually, but at the same time there was so much intrigue in seeing him show his face for the first time.

How much of that episode was actually real, and how much was an Elliot projection? We don’t quite know, but the words “Stage 2” have been uttered enough for us to know something is coming, and that is something that the promo below teases. The synopsis does the same:

“fsociety is in too deep in. an old friend reveals all to elliot. sh*t gets real af”

Odds are that this “old friend” is Tyrell, so rest assured there will probably be a few answers handed down in there that help us to further understand what the plan has been this whole time. We certainly don’t imagine that the finale will end with all stories tied together in a neat little bow (this is Mr. Robot after all), but maybe we’ll have enough nuggets of information to be able to look back at this season and Elliot’s journey and be able to understand more of what it means in the end.
