‘Chicago PD’ season 4 spoilers: Could we see a change in partnership already?

Chicago PD -Going into the fourth season of “Chicago PD,” one of the things that is the most exciting is that you are going to see Burgess with yet another new partner, and she is someone in Julie Tay (played by Li Jun Li) who brings a very different sort of energy and personality to the proceedings.

However, is this partnership going to be coming to a fairly-surprising end sooner rather than later? We do wonder that judging from the synopsis below for “A War Zone,” which is the upcoming October 5 installment of the series and the third this season:

“Intelligence is tasked with tracking down the dealers of fentanyl – a drug that has been linked to multiple overdoses around the city. As they investigate possible sources, the team uncovers a series of dealers in a college smuggling ring. Meanwhile, Tay (guest star Li Jun Li) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) come across a bloodied child who exposes a dark and twisted secret about his home life with his parents. Additionally, Mouse (guest star Samuel Hunt) causes tension as he looks to reenlist in the army, and Platt (Amy Morton) tells Tay (guest star Li Jun Li) that she has been reassigned to her original post.”

Is it possible that Tay does depart? Sure, but at the same time we think of this mostly as the show doing what it can in order to keep some of their options open. They don’t want to commit to anything right away, and this allows them to see what the viewer response is to the Tay character — or if she is someone the cast and crew likes behind the scenes.

Rest assured that we’ll have more news on “Chicago PD” before the premiere episode airs, so stay tuned!
