‘Doctor Who’ spin-off ‘Class’ finishes filming; Pearl Mackie arrives at wrap party
Who said that the wrap celebration for “Class” was limited to just actors from that show? The spin-off to “Doctor Who” recently finished up filming its latest season, and we’re not getting a little bit more of a sense as to precisely what that celebration was like … and who it included.
In a post below from cast member Vivian Oparah, you can see that the group had a special visitor to the party in Pearl Mackie, who is slated to be the new Companion on the upcoming tenth season of the BBC hit. The connections to date between “Class” and the flagship show are not entirely clear, at least other than the sole fact that the two shows exist within the same universe and that this show takes place at the Coal Hill school, a place that has certainly been a noteworthy part of “Who” lore for quite a long time.
There is no firm premiere date for “Class” yet, but you should expect it on BBC Three at some point in the near future. Based on the message below from writer Patrick Ness, he is extremely happy with the end product and excited for viewers to check it out. While this show seems meant for a younger audience to enjoy, at the same time there will be themes and stories in here that will resonate with adults. It is the universal appeal of “Doctor Who” that has ultimately made this franchise such an enormous hit for so many.
