‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 casts ‘War & Peace’ actor for mystery role
Over the years “Game of Thrones” has found a way to cast some really accomplished actors for notable roles, even if they are ones who don’t stay around an extremely long period of time. For example, look at Ciaran Hinds in the role of Mance, or even Ian McShane for this past season as Brother Ray, a great character who nonetheless only lasted one episode.
Today, the latest news revolves around acclaimed actor Jim Broadbent (recently of “War & Peace” fame), who Entertainment Weekly claims is going to be playing a mystery role at some point in the upcoming seventh season. There aren’t many details out there, but we didn’t really expect there to be. There was a casting breakdown recently for a priest who would match the actor’s age, but we’d be silly to sit here and line the two up exactly just under a year before the series returns with new episodes.
For the time being, we figure that we should just be happy to get any news at all. With the series now past the George R.R. Martin books, we would be willing to wager that this many be the most secretive show out of any currently on TV. There will probably be many metaphorical “little birds” all over the set looking for info, and we feel for HBO trying to keep everything under wraps for as long as humanly possible.
Once there are some other confirmed reports, we’ll have them for you here…
