‘The Blacklist’ season 4 promo: James Spader takes center stage
The fourth season of “The Blacklist” is going to be premiering on NBC come September 22, and the promo makes one thing about this particular story clear: It’s personal for Raymond Reddington this time around. He wants to cause chaos for Alexander Kirk and others, and he’ll be willing to do anything that he can to bring Liz Keen back.
In terms of specifics, we’re now going to claim that the latest promo offers much. In terms of little tidbits of various scenes, we do like to think that this gives you a lot. You have a chance to see him in threatening positions, demanding ones, and in general, ones that show his devotion to Liz. This is the badass side of James Spader’s performance as the character, something that we saw throughout the series’ run but especially in the early years. In the second half of season 4, we saw more of the vulnerable side to the character. Specifically, “Cape May” brought us a haunted man looking back at the past in a dangerous way.
We imagine that it could take a few episodes for the series to find its new normal — that is, if it ever does. One of the interesting things about this show’s evolution is that it has continuously evolved and given us some new flavors over the course of time. Season 3 was at one point a story about two people on the lam, but then it became more about dealing with death, betrayal, and what happens when the impossible becomes possible.
Hopefully, NBC will keep releasing promos; after all, that’ll give us so much more to discuss here!
