‘The X Factor’ UK introduces surprise wild-card twist
We’ve all seen wild-cards on “The X Factor” UK before now, but we do have to say that producers have come up with arguably the most interesting twist to the idea to date for the upcoming season.
According to a report from the Mirror, production has come up with a way in which to add even more drama to the table on the upcoming season, as judges each now have the opportunity to send an act they rejected to another team before the start of live shows. That means that presumably, someone like Simon Cowell could give Louis Walsh a dud act from his own team to try and take on in the next round. It could cause some more drama between the judges, though at the same time we also see some situations where maybe judges use this as a chance to give deserving singers another chance.
Here’s what one show source had to say per the publication:
“We love adding new twists and it was felt that introducing wildcard acts earlier in the series would liven things up and make the show edgier … The fixed-chair challenge is hard enough but now there’s been scope for a bit of tactical game-playing, with each judge picking an extra act for a rival. It’s already caused a few fireworks.”
Apparently, these acts have already been chosen, and we’ll get a chance to see that a little later this season. After all, we’ve got several weeks to go (including the premiere next week) before we get around to that.
