MTV’s ‘Scream’ to have October special; could this serve as season 3?

Following the finale of “Scream” on MTV Tuesday night, the network decided to unleash one final surprise on us during the “Scream After Dark” aftershow that followed it up: There will be at least one more episode of the show coming up in October.

If you look at the video below, you can go ahead and get what is the tiniest of tastes for what could be coming up within this special, at least in terms of seeing more of Kieran in prison after his arrest at the end of the season. In this special, it appears that many of the lingering questions could be answered.

So what do we make of this in terms of a potential third season for the show? If we’re going to be honest, we’d say that this may diminish the odds of it happening ever so slightly. After all, if this serves to tie together many of the loose ends at the end of the second season, there may not be as big of a reason for a third. While we’d still like to see it, we have to be a realist and recognize that worldwide trending topics don’t necessarily equate to money in the bank for the network.

Still, we’ll be hoping for the best, and later on in the day we’re going to be back to discuss further what all of the ratings end up being for the finale. In turn, this may give us a little bit of a wider scope of the ratings for the season as a whole.
