‘Reign’ season 4, ‘Arrow’ season 5, ‘The 100’ season 4 episode orders (for now) revealed

Want to know how many episodes many of your favorite CW shows are going to have for the upcoming season? Thanks to network boss Mark Pedowitz’s participation at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour this morning, we now have a pretty good idea.

One thing that the network is moving away from somewhat are the 23-episode orders for many of their shows. This time around, TVLine reports that “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Supernatural” will take a step down to 22 episodes for the coming season, and this makes sense for many reasons. For one, the extra work on crossovers will probably help to make up for that extra episode that you’re missing this season. Also, you want to get your actors rest at some point. (Given that Jensen Ackles and his wife are currently expecting twins, given “Supernatural” one less episode this season seems to be a nice gift to him to have a little more time off.)

“Supergirl” will run for 22 episodes, as it was previously announced.

As for some of the other shows on the network, midseason entries like “The 100” or “The Originals” season 4 are currently slated for 13 episodes, and the same goes for “iZombie.” Two fall shows in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and “Legends of Tomorrow” also currently have the same order attached to them. “Reign” season 4, meanwhile, could run for as long as 16 episodes, though it seems early enough as of right now that there is some ebb and flow here.

Some of the challenges that The CW is facing this year are schedule-based ones. Just remember for a minute that they’ve got new series “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency” to figure out for the fall, and then “Riverdale” waiting in the wings.
