Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage’ trailer is here — and it’s awesome

We first teased yesterday that the trailer for Marvel’s “Luke Cage” would be coming today, and now the good folks at Netflix have come through with a heck of an action-packed two and a half minutes, which in turn should get you super hyped about what is coming up next.

In this trailer, you learn a little bit about Harlem, Luke’s stomping grounds, and also the origin story for his powers and how he uses them. It’s the perfect setup for any superhero trailer, even if this is not an ordinary superhero. We’re sure that there are some out there who will be bummed about the lack of a Jessica Jones cameo in here, but you have to remember that this is the sort of secret that the show wouldn’t want to give away at first. Maybe they’ll show that off in due time, since we’d be somewhat-bummed if she doesn’t show up at all given the relationship that is there between the two of them.

All episodes of “Luke Cage,” per the trailer, are coming on September 30, and this is really just the beginning of the character’s story (and that is including his role in “Jessica Jones”). He will be a part of “The Defenders,” slated to stream at some point in 2017, and it’s certainly possible that he will get a second season and some more stories elsewhere. While we’re not going to say that everyone episode of the Netflix – Marvel collaboration has been perfect, they’ve set up their world in fantastic fashion.
