Stephen Colbert hypes up live ‘Late Show’ episodes during political conventions

This coming week is going to be a big one for much of America thanks to some political discourse happening at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, and there are of course going to be a number of different voices who will try to make some of the possible chaos.

One of these said voices is none other than “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, who sat down on “CBS This Morning” recently and dropped a few hints about what to expect … including the possible return of the character he famously played for so many years on Comedy Central. That would certainly be interesting, especially given that none other than former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart could be in attendance for one of the live shows he is doing to accompany the convention.

For Colbert, he more than likely understands that this coming week is one of the biggest opportunities that he has in order to seize control in the late-night market. When you look at the other programs that are out there, he’s up against someone in Jimmy Fallon who is much sillier and sketch-based as a performer, and then someone in Jimmy Kimmel who is snarky, but political humor is not necessarily his forte. This is something that Stephen does excel in, and his show has become largely a new venue for him to bring something different to the world.

Some other late-night shows planning some unique coverage for the conventions include “Real Time with Bill Maher” as well as “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” We’ll see who proves to be the winner in terms of the most entertaining coverage.
