‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ books Jon Stewart as guest during GOP Convention
As you may have heard already, “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” is going to be broadcasting live next week in order to better cover the GOP Convention, and to better facilitate this coverage, they just booked a particularly notable guest.
According to Vulture, Colbert’s longtime friend and former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart is going to be appearing on the July 18 edition of “The Late Show,” and we imagine that the two are going to have quite a bit to discuss! Since stepping down from the Comedy Central show Stewart has stayed relatively quiet, save for a brief return to discuss a matter of personal importance regarding honoring brave men and women who saved lives on September 11. Part of the reason for his break may be to spend time with friends and family, and he may also be allowing Trevor Noah to make a name for himself on “The Daily Show” now without as much interference. It’s hard to say.
Ultimately, we imagine that this will be a great interview, and is further reason to watch “The Late Show” live. While Colbert may not be as flashy as some of the other late-night hosts when it comes to silly sketches or celebrity interviews, he shines when it comes to the political realm. Also, our memories of these two men working together are certainly fond.
For those wondering, “The Late Show” is not the only show in late-night doing at leave one live broadcast. “Late Night with Seth Meyers” is planning something similar! Meanwhile, “The Daily Show” will be going to Cleveland to cover the convention in-person.
