‘Arrow’ season 5, ‘The Flash’ season 3, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ get John Barrowman as regular

Arrow -

Wentworth Miller is officially going to have company when it comes to being a series regular across multiple CW shows.

According to TVLine, John Barrowman is now going to be a regular in his own right across “Arrow” season 5, “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” What this means is that he will not be confined to one show, and will travel around as the writers see fit.

Is it a surprise to see Barrowman get this particular promotion? Sure. Most of his story is tied closest to Oliver Queen, and he doesn’t have superpowers or a fancy gun like Captain Cold. Therefore, we don’t quite know how he works on “The Flash.” Also, can he find a way to travel through time, or to wherever the “Supergirl” universe is in comparison to all of the others?

Ultimately, what this does ultimately represent is a great step for the DC – CW universe at large, which will benefit from getting Barrowman across all shows. For those who love Malcolm, it will be nice for the character to freely hop around and be involved in the story. The flip side of that is that if you are one of those viewers who only watches one or two of the shows, you may wonder why you care about this guy or what his importance is. Clearly, executive producer Greg Berlanti is counting on many fans finding the time to check out the entire comic-book spectrum on the network.

Filming started earlier this week for at least some of these shows, so expect Barrowman to be busy sooner rather than later.
