‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 13 (finale) video: ‘Dragonfly in Amber’ draws near

Outlander -

We are now mere days away from the “Outlander” season 2 finale airing on Starz, and the closer we get to “Dragonfly in Amber,” the more we have a mixture of emotions. There’s excitement to finally see it, and yet dread that this is the last time we will for some time. We know season 3 is coming, but don’t know when it will premiere.

In terms of the story, there’s certainly excitement to see Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) for the first time on the series. Yet, at the same time there’s also fear regarding what the future of the story for Claire and Jamie truly is. There is a reason why we started off season 2 the way that we did, and sooner or later, we know that we are going to get back to that. The promo below is just a small sampling.

We’ve been upfront and honest in most of our coverage of the show about not reading the books, and while we are sure for readers there is plenty of excitement that is going to come out of seeing familiar events play out on TV, for us much of the excitement comes in the great unknown and the mystery of it all. (Also, we want to be able to judge the show independently as a critic without preconceived notions.) You have these brilliant characters, and the very-present fear that they could be apart and something terrible could happen to them. Also, you have these new arrivals coming that are so beloved, and we’re chomping at the bit to figure out why that is. (Quick kudos to book fans for being by and large super-respectful in not going out of your way to spoil things. It’s reminiscent of “Game of Thrones” fans before readers decided that spoiling the Red Wedding was cool.)
