‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: The six-chair challenge (sadly) returns
Consider the following something filed under “news we really wish we were not reporting”: It appears as though the Six-Chair Challenge is going to be back on “The X Factor” moving forward this season.
According to Digital Spy, this controversial part of the competition is going to be back coming up later this season, and this (as you may know) will be the only chance this season that we get to see some of these people ultimately perform in front of a pre-taped audience. After this, they will go forward to judges’ houses, and from there on out, the competition is going to be all about the live shows.
We understand for the most part why producers really like this phase of the competition, mostly because of the fact that it creates a ton of drama and raises the stakes to almost the point of hyperventilating. At the same time, this is precisely why we don’t like it, mostly because we prefer our version of “The X Factor” to be one where we don’t see contestants have to deal with this sort of stress. We prefer the show more lighthearted and fun-oriented, especially given that there are enough other serious things going on in the world. Also, this challenge takes away the spirit of friendship that exists between the contestants, given that all of a sudden they are forced to suddenly have to compete directly against one another after not really doing that the majority of the season.
