‘Dead of Summer’ episode 2 preview: What lies ahead on Freeform drama?
On Freeform Tuesday night, a new and super-spooky drama debuted in “Dead of Summer” that is hoping to bring back the tradition of the creepy summer where things are not quite what they seem. It’s got a good pedigree, and to go along with that, a very good cast led by Elizabeth Mitchell of “Lost” fame.
Now that we have had a basic introduction to things tonight, next week’s “Barney Rubble Eyes” is when things are really going to get going, and we imagine that will include taking things up a few notches in the “freaking you out” department. The synopsis below hints at some potential legends, and a few flashbacks give us a little bit more of a “Lost” / “Once Upon a Time” feel (hey, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are executive producers here):
“The campers arrive to Camp Stillwater and quickly Alex and Blotter realize one of their new charges, Anton, is going to be a handful. With the tendency to wander off into the woods talking to himself, Alex and Blotter think the shy kid just has an imaginary friend. But when Anton starts talking about “the Tall Man” and communicating cryptic messages to them, they begin to wonder what lurks in the woods around Stillwater. Meanwhile, flashbacks show how Alex got his “if you want something in life, you have to take it” attitude.”
One thing we are very introgued to learn is what the ratings are for this first episode, mostly since we’re not sure how the Freeform faithful will respond to this, and that should be very interesting to see.
