‘Veep’ season 5, episode 10 (finale) spoilers: Inauguration Day
If there is one thing that we learned above all else through this season of “Veep,” it’s that Selina Meyer probably shouldn’t be President. She doesn’t act Presidential most of the time. Then again, she also doesn’t act very Vice-Presidential, either.
We feel like if this was a less cynical show, it is certainly possible that this season would be ending with Selina easily getting to be President without all of the nonsense, the recount, or having to deal with other branches of government. Yet, this is “Veep,” a show that really loves to make things a little crazy and sent people for a ride. Based on the promo below, it is possible that Selina could end up actually becoming Tom James’ Vice-President rather than President herself. Therefore, the original purpose of the show is restored, and she is yet again second-in-command. There is something inherently funnier about this, since you’re not at the top of the world … just close to it. Also, remember how Selina treated him with the whole “economy czar” stuff at the start of the season.
Technically, HBO released a synopsis for the finale (see below); it just doesn’t reveal that much about what is going to be coming up:
“Selina and her staff get ready for inauguration day. Mike suffers exhaustion; Catherine gets a makeover.”
Whatever happens from here should hopefully bring us into another season of hilarity; we know that six seasons is starting to get long for a premium cable comedy, but we’re really not ready just yet for “Veep” to end.
