Teen Choice Awards 2016: Lucy Hale, Rowan Blanchard, Shelley Hennig battle for Summer TV Actress
We’ve made it to the final edition of our Teen Choice Awards analysis pieces … or at least we have when it comes to the second wave of nominations. Who knows? It is certainly possible that we could have a whole lot more to discuss if another wave comes out, but for now, this marks the end of the road … at least until we share some of the reader results to our polls, which we’ll be doing in the coming days.
Before that, we have to analyze the somewhat-interesting Choice Summer TV Actress category, though it really just feels here like there are a bunch of people nominated here who didn’t quite fit elsewhere and were just thrown here in hopes that they would show up to collect a surfboard.
The nominees
Rowan Blanchard, “Girl Meets World”
Lucy Hale, “Pretty Little Liars”
Shelley Hennig, “Teen Wolf”
Shay Mitchell, “Pretty Little Liars”
Emily Osment, “Young & Hungry”
Cierra Ramirez, “The Fosters”
Who will win – We’re going to say Hale, who was nominated in a different category last year and it feels like the Teen Choice Awards are really just juggling around all of the “PLL” cast members so that have various ones in different categories. They’re spreading the love around that way! Mitchell of course also has a chance, and the “Teen Wolf” army has proven itself to be very strong in past years, as well.
Who should win – Out of this group, we would probably say Ramirez or Blanchard just on the basis of the work they’ve gotten to do over the course of the past year. While “The Fosters” and “Girl Meets World” may be very different shows from start to finish, we do think that the two of them are really hitting their stride right now when it comes to smart writing and catering to their specified audiences.
