‘America’s Got Talent’ Golden Buzzer act on Grace VanderWaal on Taylor Swift comparison

Grace -Through “America’s Got Talent” this season so far there have been two golden buzzer acts, and based on both the audience and internet reaction to Grace VanderWaal, there’s a pretty clear sentiment that she could end up winning the whole thing. The audience went berserk for her the moment she finished her audition, and Howie Mandel really did not hesitate to hit his golden buzzer (at least per the show’s edit) the moment she was done.

Once the moment was over, we also got a striking comparison by Simon Cowell to Taylor Swift, which we do certainly get given that there is a quiet confidence to the two of them, and like Swift, VanderWaal makes an effort to write her own songs.

In speaking about this said comparison to Entertainment Weekly, Grace had the following to pass along:

“The only word I could I think of is “honored.” I obviously want to be my own person and be original, but I think that’s not what he meant. I think he meant the success. Everyone knows who Taylor Swift is. She’s extremely successful as a singer/songwriter and to be compared to that is just unbelievable.”

Here’s one other sign that the public is clearly behind her already: Her audition video has already been watched 62 million times on Facebook, and over 2.7 million times on Facebook to go along with that. Remember that we’re writing this just two days after the first audition! Right now, we’d say that she and Tape Face are probably the two frontrunners for the season. They do very different things, but there’s something about them that stands out in the crowd.
