James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Broadway stars is all sorts of amazing
Over the past few months, James Corden has really struck gold with “Carpool Karaoke,” and it’s interesting precisely how it works. Basically, the host of “The Late Late Show” has managed to make something go viral that people probably do all over the country. We know that there have certainly been plenty of occasions in the past where we have gotten into a car with someone and belted out songs in an embarrassingly loud, sometimes-obnoxious way.
In the video below, you can see Corden team up with some of Broadway’s biggest stars for what may be one of the most fantastic ones to date leading up to the Tony Awards this weekend. Joining James here are none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda of “Hamilton” fame, plus Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Audra McDonald, and Jane Krakowski.
Yes, these videos are for the most part meant to be funny, but there is something completely emotional that comes out of seeing all of these people do “Seasons of Love” from “Rent.” There is also of course a little bit of “Hamilton” in here, which you had to expect given that this show is probably going to completely dominate the Tonys in every way possible; in some ways, it is one of the best things to happen to Broadway in some time, given that it has created a new property that can attract even non-theater fans to the venue.
Another epic moment in here comes at the very end, courtesy of getting to hear the entire car belt out a rendition of “One Day More.” Basically, if you love Broadway, this is probably going to be right up your alley; even if you’re not a huge fan, there’s still a lot to like here.
