Ratings: ‘Game of Silence’ series finale up; Miss USA Pageant okay in return
There isn’t exactly too much to talk about when it comes to the ratings for primetime network TV last night, but there are specifically a pair of different things that we want to spotlight here.
“Game of Silence” series finale – For its final episode, the NBC series drew a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.45 million viewers. These are numbers that in some way provide further context as to why it was canceled, but they are a slight increase versus the prior episode.
As we’ve said already, we think mostly that there are a variety of factors to blame for the cancellation here, whether it be the timeslot, starting so late in the spring, the show’s rather vague title, or even a premise that is hard for viewers to fully grasp without committing to the show. It’s a shame, since there was some serious potential with this show that may not end up being explored further.
Miss USA 2016 – As for the pageant airing on Fox for the first time, it drew in total a 1.1 rating. There’s a little less of a traditional context here to compare the ratings to. While this is down from the show’s ratings two years ago, that was back when the show was on NBC, and also back when Donald Trump was an owner in the pageant. There may be some out there who still believe the pageant to be owned by Trump and opted not to watch this year, or it may just not have momentum anymore after it aired on Reelz Channel last year.
Ultimately, we figure Fox probably considers these ratings at least a relative win.
