‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star Calum Scott signs record deal
While “Britain’s Got Talent” may currently be celebrating the win of one of their most noteworthy contestants in Richard Jones, they also now have some good news when it comes to another recent alumni in Calum Scott.
Scott announced this past week on Facebook that he has signed a record deal with Capitol Records of Universal Music Group, and it’s a big jump for a guy who really started things off with a killer cover of “Dancing on My Own” during one of the audition shows. He has since released the Robyn cover as a single, where it had impressive sales without even getting any major airplay to go along with it on the radio.
Per the Mirror, here is what one source close to Scott had to say about his understandable excitement for what is happening in his life at present:
“This is a dream come true for Calum and he has a great team around him now. He worked hard for quite a few years on the local music scene before entering BGT and he’s been dying to reveal the news since he signed the deal.”
If this turns out to be a huge deal for Calum, he could be added to the list of singers like Ella Henderson and Tori Kelly, who appeared on reality singing shows but did not find a whole lot of fame for themselves until a little bit later down the road. It just shows that while these shows are platforms, it’s the work you put in after the fact that pays off.
