Fox 2017 Midseason Schedule: ’24: Legacy’ gets Super Bowl slot; ‘Prison Break,’ ‘Sleepy Hollow’ premiere
For those wondering where “24: Legacy” and “Prison Break” were on the newly-released Fox Fall Schedule, there is a simple answer: The network is saving then for a rainy … er, snowy day. Both of these shows are on the Midseason Schedule, which the network also released today in what was a fairly rare move, all things considered. It’s not something you tend to see a network want to do since things can change during a season.
With that, we suppose that this schedule is subject to change; we also want to note going into it that the “24” reboot is going to get the post-Super Bowl slot on Sunday, February 5. Clearly, Fox is tipping its cap there as to what show it has the most faith in.
Update: The schedule has been updated with new changes as of May 20.
Monday
8:00 – 24: Legacy (new drama, “Gotham” returns in the spring)
9:00 – APB (new drama, “Lucifer” returns in the spring)
Tuesday
8:00 – New Girl / Brooklyn Nine-Nine (one will finish, before being replaced by the other)
8:30 – The Mick (new comedy)
9:00 – Kicking & Screaming (new series, the “Prison Break” revival starts in the spring)
Wednesday
8:00 – Lethal Weapon (new drama “Shots Fired” takes over in the spring
9:00 – Star (new drama, “Empire” returns in the spring)
Thursday
8:00 – Rosewood
9:00 – Bones
Friday
8:00 – MasterChef Junior
9:00 – Sleepy Hollow
Sunday
7:30 – Bob’s Burgers
8:00 – The Simpsons
8:30 – Making History (new comedy)
9:00 – Family Guy
9:30 – The Last Man on Earth
Let’s talk what is the most interesting part of this schedule to us, and that is that there are six series on this midseason schedule (not including spring shows) that were not on Fox this past season. Compare that to the fall schedule, which only had three. Clearly, this is a network going all-in with new concepts as it tries to fill the “American Idol” void on their schedule for the first time in over a decade.
