‘Supernatural’ season 11: Jeremy Carver exits as showrunner; Robert Singer, Andrew Dabb to run season 12

For all fans of “Supernatural,” what we have for you today is a case of a good news and bad news situation.

Let’s get the bad part of this over with first: Jeremy Carver, who has run the CW series for the last several years, will be stepping down in order to run the remake of “Frequency” at the network.

We’ll miss Carver, mostly because he was someone we felt was responsible in part for helping the lift the show back up following what were some of the weaker seasons in our mind. He brought a lot of cool ideas, and also allowed the writers to have a lot of creative fun crafting some stories for Sam and Dean Winchester that were imaginative and different.

Here’s the good news: It’s hardly like he is being replaced by people with zero knowledge of the series. Robert Singer, who has been with the show in various capacities since the first season, is going to become the co-showrunner alongside Andrew Dabb, who has been around since season 4 and was a co-executive producer this year. These two guys are more than capable of delivering the show that fans love, and they’ve technically been along consistently even longer than Carver has. We’ll see what their incarnation looks like, but for now we feel like there’s no reason to feel anything other than optimistic regarding what they are going to do.
