ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 finale video: Can (or will) Olivia help Jake escape?

Thursday night marks the end of “Scandal” season 5, and to go along with that, it may be the last episode of the show for a long time. With series star Kerry Washington not pregnant, it is possible that we may not see another new episode until either late 2016 or early 2017. We like to think that the finale is all the more important as a result of this.

The sneak peek below comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, and one of the things that is seemingly clear in this is that Jake Ballard, despite however good hew may be at his job, does not exactly want to do it anymore. He wants to be freed from the burden / danger that is working alongside Rowan, and he now feels trapped. As a matter of fact, he is so trapped that he cannot even go to Olivia to make some of his further thoughts on the subject known for now. Edison has to be the relay, and the problem here is that she doesn’t seem to be all that interested in listening, saying that she has more of the convention to look towards than anything else.

By the end of this particular preview, what we really get a sense of is this: Edison is someone who is trying to do the right thing, and as a result of that, we’re worried about whether or not he will make it out of the finale alive. Speaking of which, Rowan is the dude with about a billion or so lives. We constantly like that we are approaching a situation where he is not going to be able to make it to the other side, and he constantly does.
