‘New Girl’ season 6: Return date speculation and more for Zooey Deschanel comedy

Tonight on Fox, the fifth season of “New Girl” is going to be ending with a big way, and also with plenty of guest stars. You’ll be seeing Megan Fox back on the show, which to us is worth celebrating since she may have been the biggest surprise of the season. Also, we’re going to see more of Damon Wayans Jr. as Coach! Having him around full-time was not as rewarding as we hoped it would be, but we are glad to be getting a small dose of him through at least one of the two episodes coming up in a matter of hours.

So when can you expect to see the show back on the air after this? It’s certainly a great question. Fox renewed the Zooey Deschanel series for season 6 a little while ago, but there’s no telling precisely when they will premiere it. Things were a little bit wonky this year thanks to Deschanel’s pregnancy pushing back production, and the network decided to wait until midseason to air new episodes. It’s possible that they could do this again, given that the fall schedule could be crowded with “Scream Queens” coming back.

If the show does come back in the fall, we imagine not much will be different. It’s aired on Tuesdays really throughout its entire run, so why change it now?

One other question we can understand some out there having is whether or not we are getting closer to the end of the show. It’s ratings are far from enormous, but at the same time you can say the same thing about many Fox comedies. We figure it could have a couple of seasons left, but we don’t want to see it go out with a whimper. We’d rather the showrunners pick their place to end it and go out with something huge.
