Is ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7 new tonight on CBS?

NCISWe’ve had a great run of “NCIS: Los Angeles” episodes this year. Ultimately, we’ve had 24 episodes that have given us updates on Sam, Callen, Deeks, Kensi, and others, but the story has come to an end … for now.

There is ultimately no new episode of the show airing on CBS tonight, as the finale aired last week and the network is now prioritizing getting through as many episodes of “Person of Interest” as possible during May sweeps. The show is airing twice a week starting this week before it wraps everything up a little bit later this summer.

As for when “NCIS: LA” will return to the schedule, think fall. CBS will probably be a little bit more liberal when it comes to sharing information later this month at their upfront presentation, where they set the schedule for at least the first part of their 2016-17 season. There’s no word as to whether or not season 8 will be the show’s last, but we want to think that it could have another couple of years left in the tank. There has not been a version of the “NCIS” franchise to come to a close just yet, and we know that the flagship is now locked in on the network until at least season 15. That’s a shocking number to think about, but if there’s enough story for it, why not?

Of course, those of you who are regular “NCIS” viewers can look forward to some more coverage when it comes to Michael Weatherly’s exit over the course of the coming days.
