‘The Flash’ season 2, and the current course for Barry and Iris

Mrs. Carter: Are we closer than ever before to seeing WestAllen becoming a reality on “The Flash“?

During this past episode of the show, we had what was quite possibly the most significant movement we’ve seen towards these two characters getting together on Earth-1 to date. While Iris has at least considered her feelings for Barry Allen before now, this is one of the first times that we’ve seen her be fairly open with him about giving something a try. He seemed to agree that now was the time to explore it, but he was a tad preoccupied with dealing with the notion of getting his powers back. Now, he’s been potentially transported somewhere else, which is something that we should get a chance to see more of on Tuesday night’s new episode of the show.

Did Iris’ revelation come a little bit out of nowhere? For us, we’re willing to say so if for no other reason than that we honestly did not expect that we were going to see her admit to something before the finale. Also, the show didn’t spent much time building it up. Maybe this was a response to the “destiny” that surrounds the relationship between the two, or just her realizing after going on a date with her boss that she really was ready to move on from Eddie … but with someone who has really been there all along.

As for where we see this relationship going the rest of the season, maybe the finale is the time to get them together. You don’t want to change the fundamental nature of the show much, but we don’t think the two getting together really would. They’re already close, and it would be nice to see how Barry handles being with someone who is fully aware and understanding of his powers.
