Ratings: Did ‘Limitless’ finale help season 2 odds? Also, ‘Containment,’ ‘The Flash’ rise
Did “Limitless” do what it needed to on CBS last night in order to earn a second season? We wish we could say so, but what it may have just done is make the picture even murkier.
The season 1 finale of the film adaptation ended up drawing just a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic on Tuesday night, but to be fair, it’s also not like the network really put it in the best position possible to succeed. It aired after repeats of “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans,” rather than getting a chance to succeed on its own. For now, we’re going to say that this show is firmly on the bubble, and we’ll just have to see what happens next.
Want to get some other ratings from Tuesday? Here we go…
The good news – Both “The Flash” (1.3) and “Containment” (0.6) rose versus their most-recent outings, and for the second show in particular that’s great news for a second episode. Even if it adjusts down it will still be matching the performance of “iZombie” earlier this season, and it’s hard to think that The CW would cancel a show faring better than several others on their schedule.
Also, “Chicago Med” (1.8) drew its best rating in months, while “Chicago Fire” (1.7) continued to post solid numbers.
The bad news – Basically, we had reminders that neither “Grandfathered” (0.6) or “Beyond the Tank” (0.5) will be continuing beyond this season. We understand why they were both ordered, but they have not really gone anywhere in the numbers.
