‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Jamal’s big move and more in ‘Rise By Sin’

There are few relationships within the world of “Empire” that are more fascinating than the one between Lucious Lyon and his son Jamal. We’ve seen prejudice, we’ve seen mistreatment, and while at times we’ve seen respect, there has been so little permanence within there that it is hard to feel confident in where the two could go moving into the future. There’s also been so much jealous on Lucious’ side that we worry he will put his son down if he somehow becomes either too successful or famous. In this world, we do have to worry about these things … and often.

One of the most interesting moments of the entire season is going to come during “Rise By Sin,” which is the penultimate episode of the season airing on Wednesday, May 11. We like to think that the synopsis below offers you some further news in terms of what to expect:

“Hakeem feels the pressure of his underwhelming fiancé, Laura, as he struggles to find a place for her both in his family and his career. Cookie finally reveals to Jamal the truth behind what happened to Freda’s father, prompting Jamal to warn Freda of his family’s ulterior motives. Meanwhile, despite his frustration with the family, Jamal makes a sacrifice for Lucious from which it will be hard to recover.”

Whatever happens here, rest assured that it will carry into the finale, and also change things potentially in a way so that life is never quite the same for the Lyon family afterwards. We are looking forward to diving into this further moving forward, so stay tuned for even more updates.
