‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12: Is Ellen Pompeo for or against Meredith – Alex romance?

Should Meredith Grey want to be with Alex? This is a question that “Grey’s Anatomy” has asked so far through season 12, even with the caveat that in reality, Justin Chambers’ character is actually with Jo. Meredith has been on the search for answers since the death of Derek, and in a sense, we understand the questions. After all, just remember for a minute or two here that we are talking about two people who have been friends for a long time, and Jo has already questioned whether or not there is something emotional going on between the two of them.

We know that there is a ‘shipper community out there devoted to the two characters, but Ellen Pompeo tells TVLine that personally, she is in the camp where she actually sees the two as friends first and foremost:

“I think they’re too close… too much like brother and sister. I have super-close friends who I’m not romantically attracted to at all. So I think just because you’re so in love with someone in one way doesn’t mean it’s aromantic love. But they certainly do understand each other a lot.”

Pompeo also told the site that she trusts Shonda Rhimes and her vision, so she would easily commit to this story provided of course that it is the one that the showrunner ultimately wants to tell. We’ll just have to wait and see if this is what she opts for, but for now we’re going to continue to think that Alex is more than likely going to stick with Jo.
