‘Ink Master’ season 7, episode 9 preview: Could Sausage, Matti Hixson actually work together?

Tonight, “Ink Master” gave its artists one of the biggest challenges of the season: Having to do traditional dragons as suggested by the returning James Vaughn. We saw in particular Cleen Rock One and Christian Buckingham do everything that they could in order to screw over Sausage.

Moving into next week’s new episode, though, could the tables turn? We know that promos can be misleading, but there was one super-interesting part of the one Spike showed tonight that caught our eye: Matti Hixson telling Sausage that if anyone is taking him out, he wants to do. These two are clearly rivals, and they had a lot of bad blood on this past season. Could they actually see past that and work together? In theory, it’s possible.

As a whole Matti is probably playing the strategic game better than anyone right now. He’s the guy who has alliances with several different people, and seems to be smart enough to know who to side with and when. That doesn’t mean that he’ll win, but it keeps him from getting screwed over in skull picks.

One other thing that may have been hinted at in this promo is further struggles from Jime Litwalk. He hasn’t been in grave danger since his return, but he has been in that position where he’s technically been in the bottom. Given how amazing an artist he is, we imagine that he’s going to need to change things up soon and show just how capable of dominating he is.
