‘Beyond the Tank’ preview: Hamboards, RuckPack, and the Original Runner

There is another episode of “Beyond the Tank” coming to ABC on Tuesday night, and judging from what we know at present about this episode, there will be a nice mixture of products reasonably old and new. We remember two of them fondly, while the other comes from slightly before our time covering the show. Some of these do tend to slip from our memory here and there.

Rather than try to break down the products featured and some of their struggles ourselves, we’ll let the official ABC synopsis do a little bit more of the talking since it does a good job of being informative:

“Robert Herjavec is pleased that Donnie Sandusky and Peter Hamborg’s skateboard business, Hamboards, enjoyed a nice sales bump after their season five appearance. But when Robert finds out they’re having a problem keeping their business afloat, he has some harsh truths for the Huntington Beach, California-based company.

“In season two, Julie Goldman from Montclair, New Jersey didn’t get a deal with Original Runner, a non-slip, no tear personalized aisle runner. She felt she didn’t put her best foot forward in the Tank, but a surprise visit by an intrigued Barbara Corcoran gives her a needed boost.

“When Kevin O’Leary joined forces with Rob Dyer, a Marine Corps officer from Annapolis, Maryland in season four, for the energy supplement RuckPack, he was impressed that it was designed by active duty military soldiers. But Rob’s family obligations caused him to bring in a new CEO. Will Kevin, but more importantly, the military veteran community, accept all of the changes?”

The sneak peek below gives you a sense of some of the trouble that is coming up for RuckPack in general. Kevin is concerned about the frequent changes at the top, and also the fact that the Rob is no longer the CEO of a company that was so much about its military theme. Rob assures him that the new boss is doing a great job steering the company, and he offers to show him some of the latest products.
