‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Is Rhonda getting close to figuring out the truth?

One of the biggest cliffhangers at the end of the first part of “Empire” season 2 was who was truly responsible for the death of the Rhonda character, and for the time being, it feels almost like this is a story thread that the show has tried to slow-play for as long as they possibly can. We’ve certainly had some reasons to suspect that Anika is the guilty party, which if that is the case, things aren’t looking too great for Rhonda based on what we saw at the end of this past episode.

Luckily, this is not the sort of storyline that Lee Daniels, Ilene Chaiken, or the rest of the people affiliated with the show plan on keeping buried as some deep secret forever. As a matter of fact, the synopsis for the May 4 episode entitled “The Lyon Who Cried Wolf” definitely signifies that there is a little bit more in the way of information coming at some point in the near future:

“A wrench is thrown into Lucious’ deeply personal music video about his mother, when Andre discovers a dark secret. Meanwhile, Hakeem and Jamal are compromised after pursuing secretive affairs. Then, Rhonda starts to suspect who her attacker was.”

Through this particular installment, we certainly hope that we can get a little more information regarding not just Rhonda’s killer, but also exactly what the endgame for this season will be. For example, let’s say that Lucious’ music video ends up finally being released. Is this something that will give him any peace, or are we talking more here about some sort of temporary high that he will disregard once the feeling of greatness is gone?
