‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ episode 9 video: The domino challenge returns!

Julia -

We don’t see a whole lot of completely original challenges on “Survivor” these days, especially when you get into the post-merge game. Maybe some out there don’t like it, but we do understand since you want to make sure the challenge is tried-and-true, and that they are fairly balanced so that people are are either super-strong or super-smart don’t have an easy advantage.

The one that you see in the sneak peek below is similar to a challenge that Kenny won back in “Survivor: Gabon,” and it’s also the famed duel on “Survivor: Redemption Island” that sent Russell Hantz home over Matt Elrod: It’s the return of Domino Rally! We don’t know the “Survivor” name for it, but it reminds us of that old game. This is a competition about patience, precision, and strategy, since you want to get your dominoes together in a short period of time without getting overly excited in the process. After all, just one wrong move can cause everything to fall apart.

Based on the preview it looks like Michele and Julia are the two doing the best job at this, while Jason’s a little bit of a bull in a china shop. While this is largely a fair challenge we do think that Scot is at an enormous disadvantage when you consider all of the different variables here, namely the fact that he has so much further to bend over, and he’s also got enormous feet that probably don’t fit through here particularly well.

Unfortunately for him, Scot could end up being the person who needs immunity the most. If he and Jason remain on the outs he’s the one of the two without an immunity idol, and there’s no guarantee that Jason would play it on him … and the same goes for him and Tai, provided they are still that close.
