‘Supernatural’ season 11, episode 16 video: See Bobby and Rufus return in flashback!

For Wednesday night’s all-new episode of “Supernatural,” we are seeing the writers take on a very different sort of story than usual. They’ve come up with another way to bring back Jim Beaver to the show as Bobby, and this time around, he’s got company.

In the sneak peek below, you can see a flashback of Bobby alongside Rufus (Steven Williams) as their mission is parallel to one that Sam and Dean are working on at present. There are obviously some links between the two investigations, and our heroes in the present are going to have to work hard to retrace the steps of the guys who came before them. Given that they are not really around in order to offer up any advice, we figure that this is not going to be a particularly-easy thing for the two to accomplish.

What we like about this episode more than anything else is merely that it’s nostalgia. Because the show has been on the air now for more than a decade, there are these wonderful opportunities to dive back and explore the past in interesting ways, and there are also enough interesting characters that we don’t complain too much when we are forced to spend a little bit of time away from Sam and Dean. In this case, we’re celebrating getting as much of Rufus and Bobby as possible! While we don’t know if they are going to return, we sure hope that they will at some point.
