‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9: Kaley Cuoco on Penny’s future career goals

Big Bang -It’s been a little while since we’ve had an update one way or another on Penny’s career ambitions on “The Big Bang Theory,” and the last we saw of her on the show, what we learned was that she was interested in finding a way to make more money. She achieved that in the world of pharmaceutical sales, but is she really happy doing it? That is certainly a fair question.

Ultimately, have no fear, for some further updates are coming! Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Steve Molaro made it clear that there are some ambitions to tell more of a story here moving forward:

“We’re starting to think about where Penny is in her life professionally … While she’s doing well in her current career, she may not be in love with it. There will be another step.”

As for one direction that we’re probably not going to see the character go in moving forward, Kaley Cuoco seemed to suggest to the site that her acting career is over:

“I never want to shoot Serial Ape-ist again. That fake movie was the torture of my life. No, I’d like her to stay in real life and really have her have a real job.”

While there was a part of us that someday wanted to see what would have happened if Penny ended up becoming a famous actress, this current storyline is probably a little more realistic, where sometimes people have to find new dreams and pursuits. This is something we’ve seen echoed at times with Sheldon, who has become disillusioned at times with some of his own research.
