FX airing ‘The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story’ as commercial-free marathon

FX -FX has found itself a major critical success story in “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” and it only makes some sense that they would take advantage of it at every opportunity that they can … and they just got a big one.

Following reports of a knife being acquired that was allegedly found on the Simpson property more than a decade and a half ago, the network has announced that beginning at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, they are going to run in succession the first five episodes of “The People v. OJ Simpson” without commercials. Is this a small price to pay when it comes to ad revenue? Sure, but they may feel as though it is worth it if they can convince some more people to tune in to the show who may not have done so beforehand.

Ultimately, we certainly do understand why there would be such an interest in both the case now and the series, given that this is something that really did capture the imagination of America one way or another. The attention was always there in a pretty extreme way, and we only imagine that the new headlines will propel the attention towards the show even more.

What’s also interesting is that this is not even the first time that Simpson’s name has come up as of late because of matters unrelated to the show; there was a storyline involving Kathryn Edwards and Faye Resnick, who is played by Connie Britton on the series, during a recent episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
